The Great Brexit Bakeoff

BusEast of England MEP Alex Mayer has been getting creative in the kitchen this week as part of an MEP "bake off" in Brussels.

Donning her best polka-dot apron, the Euro MP cooked up a storm baking a tongue in cheek, red Brexit bus, using fairtrade ingredients to raise awareness for Fairtrade Fortnight.

Fairtrade Fortnight is a two week campaign ran by the Fairtrade Foundation to encourage people to look for the Fairtrade Logo when purchasing their food and drink.

Fairtrade means that growers and producers across the world are paid a fair amount for their ingredients and work.

Alex Mayer MEP said “With fairtrade sugar and chocolate, this is one example of where you really can have your cake and eat it.

“I love some chocolate, and knowing that the coco producers are getting a fair deal for their beans is the icing on the cake!”
