MEP Targets Museum Access For Young People

Suffolk Euro MP Alex Mayer launched a new project opening access to museums to young people.

The new project, ‘Golden Ticket’ will get underway at the Museum Of East Anglian Life on Friday 18th May 2018 to coincide with the International Day of Museums and the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Golden Ticket aims to give every 12-year-old in Mid Suffolk the opportunity to come to the museum, 1,200 young people a year. Young people will have opportunities to try new activities, such as archery to improve their physical and mental well-being.

Ms Mayer MEP added: “I’m pleased to see the Museum of East Anglian Life aiming high for the target of increased participation for young people.

Museum Director, Jenny Cousins, said: “We’re really keen to get more young people to feel that the museum is a place where they are welcome. Taking an interest in new things and dedicating some of your time to creating something positive together with other people has a whole range of benefits."
