Luton MEP Alex Mayer Helps Light Up Unity At All Saints Church

Luton GrassrootsLocal MEP Alex Mayer met Luton faith leaders Friday 7th April 2017 at All Saints Church in a show of unity just two and a half weeks after the horrific Westminster attacks.

The Labour MEP lit a special candle inscribed with the word ‘Peace’ as Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs remember together those affected by the terrible events in Westminster. Ms Mayer was invited to the church by vicar, David Kesterton.

The peace candle was a given to All Saints Church exactly one year ago in Easter 2016 by the local mosque.

Ms Mayer said: “One year on, the message of peace is even more important. With the terrible terrorist attack in Westminster and the rise in hate crime after the EU Referendum, some might try to divide us. But Luton has a proud record of celebrating its diverse communities who all agree that Luton is a great town that is tolerant, open looking and united. That flame of hope will continue to burn brightly.”
