Local MEP Alex Mayer Cooks Up A Storm In The Great British MEP Bakeoff

Mary Berry eat your heart out! As part of Fair Trade Fortnight, local MEP Alex Mayer donned her apron and oven gloves to bake gingerbread politicians alongside colleagues in the European Parliament.

Fair Trade fortnight is a fun filled time of the year where campaigners, businesses, schools, politicians and places of worship show their support for farmers and workers in developing countries that grow our food.

Ms. Mayer said: “I absolutely love chocolate, but it’s important that we know that the growers and pickers are paid fairly for their work.

“Unfair exploitation of workers in developing countries frankly takes the biscuit!

“I am proud to support the Fair Trade Foundation’s campaign, getting to make these tasty gingerbread MEPs was the icing on the cake!”

Happily taking a bite out of her newly baked produce, Ms. Mayer continued: “Just call me Mayer-y Berry!”
