Justice for murdered Cambridge student

guilio.pngAlex Mayer MEP joined activists calling for justice for murdered Cambridge student Giulio Regeni on International Human Rights Day.

Giulio Regeni, was tortured and killed earlier this year in Egypt whilst researching trade unions. However the truth of what happened is not yet clear and campaigners are determined to keep up the pressure on the British and Egyptian governments.

Addressing the rally, Alex Mayer MEP, who is a member of the European Parliament Human Rights committee said: ‘We were all shocked to hear of Giulio’s tragic death. This is a case that resonates across the whole of Europe. It matters for academic freedom. There are still too many unanswered questions. We need full transparency from the Egyptian Government, and Giulio’s family deserve to know the truth now."
