Hertfordshire Labour MEP’S Shock At Untimely Death Of Sherma Batson

Alex Mayer, Labour MEP for Stevenage has expressed her shock and sadness at the death of Cllr Sherma Batson MBE, a former candidate for the European Parliament.

As well as being a well respected local councillor Sherma Batson also stood as a Police and Crime Commissioner candidate and to be a Labour MEP.

Ms Mayer said: “I’m deeply saddened by the news of the untimely death of Sherma Batson. Sherma was a leading figure in the Labour Party across the region and a pillar of her local community. I got to know her well as a Labour candidate during the European Election campaign of 2009. Sherma was so proud of Stevenage, a well respected Mayor and really good company when out campaigning.”

"My thoughts are with Sherma’s family after this terrible, unexpected news".
