MEP Alex Mayer took part in a number of events as part of the Great Get Together Weekend in Memory of Jo Cox.
The Great Get Together is a chance for local communities to come together and celebrate all that they hold in common. The celebrations were inspired by murdered MP Jo Cox’s first speech in Parliament, where she said “We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.”
Ms. Mayer, who was good friends with Ms Cox's husband, Brendan, said, "Jo's brutal death was a tragedy but she believed in bringing communities together which is why it is so fantastic to be here today, especially after the terrible recent events in Manchester and London. Today we celebrate that Bedford and Britain is united against hatred and a tolerant and friendly place."
