Alex Mayer MEP supports Sudbury Labour Fire Service Campaign

Local Labour MEP Alex Mayer visited Sudbury on 22nd April 2017 to support candidates in the Suffolk County Council elections and throw her support behind Sudbury Labour's campaign for the local fire service.

Labour councillors on Suffolk County Council backed the funds necessary for Sudbury to have a full-time, day crew. Sudbury residents still remember a fire that left 20 people homeless and destroyed two buildings in the heart of the town.

Alex Mayer MEP said "I fully support the fire service campaign by Sudbury Labour Party.  The savings that could be made are small whilst the prevention of a single major fire in a public building could save more than is currently sought in cuts - not to mention the potential life saving work of the fire service.

"It is time that the Tories running Suffolk County Council put people's safety before politics."
