Alex Mayer MEP backs plan to 'Save Hearts'

Alex Mayer MEP appealed for an effective strategy to raise awareness of the symptoms of heart failure and set cardiovascular diseases as a health priority.  15 million people live with heart failure in Europe and one in five are at risk of developing the condition.

In a Written Declaration Alex Mayer encouraged the European Commission to adopt an approach that would put fighting heart disease at the top of the health agenda. Proposed initiatives to combat heart disease include increased exchange of data between countries and improved training of healthcare professionals.
